We pride ourselves on upholding a governance structure that is transparent, effective and progressive.
Sikh Gurdwara South London is a Charity registered with the Charity Commission for England & Wales, under Charity Number 264931, registered on 7 September 1969. We are regulated by the Charity Commission and our operations are anchored in transparency and accountability.
Our Constitution has been meticulously updated over the years to meet all compliance requirements as they emerge, ensuring that our governance adheres to the highest standards of integrity and professionalism. We understand that strong governance is vital for building trust and fostering engagement with our members, our Sangat and the authorities.
Our organisation is led by a dedicated Board of Seven Trustees. Each Trustee is elected by our members for a maximum term of five years, reflecting our commitment to democratic principles. The selection process is stringent and in adherence to UK Charity Law, guaranteeing that those in charge of our organisation meet specific criteria as provided by the Charity Commission, and possess the skills necessary to lead our community effectively. Through this professional governance framework, Sikh Gurdwara South London strives to create an inclusive and harmonious environment, where all community members feel valued and empowered. No Trustees are remunerated for their services, which are provided on a purely voluntary basis.
Apart from our Gianiji (Head Priest), all tasks and services are carried out by our dedicated team of Sewadaars (Volunteers) who willingly contribute their valuable time and wide range of skills needed to run the Gurdwara on a daily basis.
